BCFansForum‘s insight:

The 2012 Blues Give a Gift campaign is in full swing after a wrapathon was held at St. Andrew’s on Thursday.

A squad of volunteers, made up of club staff, supporters and local businesses, came armed with sticky tape and wrapping paper to help prepare for Blues’ annual Christmas hospital visits next week.

The club, first-team players and several local businesses have all chipped in to purchase a mountain of gifts which will be distributed to youngsters on the wards of Birmingham Children’s Hospital and Heartlands Hospital.

Blues Give a Gift has already been tremendously supported by a host of companies who are based locally.

Bespoke investment management firm Quilter* purchased a host of electrical items including Xboxes, DVD players and DVDs and, as well as getting stuck into the wrapping, representatives will also be joining the squad on next week’s hospital visits.

John Lewis Solihull donated £1,000 worth of costs items while Sara Breen, their community liaison coordinator, has also been of great support throughout the campaign. Gifts were purchased and stored at nearby B&M Bargains and Toys R Us, who also both generously offered a discount.

Blues fan Paul Duffy, from Service Birmingham, also donated £215 following a fundraising event while supporter Matthew Farr’s company All 4 One T-Shirt Printing supplied branded clothing at a discount.

However the presents weren’t going to wrap themselves and that was the task set during the mammoth wrapping session. Hospital staff joined Bluenoses from Redditch Supporters Club, Forza Blues, Blues Trust, the BCFC Official messageboard, the Disabled Supporters Club, Often Partisan and Small Heath Alliance.

Blues boss Lee Clark also popped in with players Wade Elliott and Paul Robinson to offer their own support ahead of Saturday’s visit of Crystal Palace.

Stay tuned to for further news on this year’s Blues Give a Gift campaign.
