Blues travel to midlands neighbours Wolves on Saturday evening for a crucial npower Championship fixture (kick-off: 5.20pm).

Lee Clark’s side are looking to record back-to-back wins for the first time this season, following their 3-2 success against Middlesbrough last weekend.

Wolves are also aiming for consecutive victories, after notching up their first win in ten with a 4-1 triumph away at struggling Bristol City last time out.

The two sides are separated by just two places and one point with Wolves in 17th spot and Blues in 19th.

Blues have no fresh injury concerns ahead of the game. Stephen Carr (knee), David Murphy (knee) and Darren Ambrose (knee) are all unavailable, although Ambrose is expected to return to training next week. Midfielder Keith Fahey remains in Ireland on compassionate leave.

Blues boss Clark says is expecting a tight match between two experienced sides.

“I think it will be an evenly contested game,” said the Blues boss. “They’ve got talented players but so have we. The problem for both clubs has been consistency.

“But we’ve picked up four points out of the last six and although this is a very tough game we want to get a positive result from it. Because then we’ve got two home games to play, albeit tough ones.”

Clark continued: “Wolves a big club with a great fan base and not so long ago were playing at the highest level. I went to watch them on Saturday when they beat Bristol and they’re a big powerful team.

“They’re probably very similar to us in that they should probably be doing better than they are. They’re coming off the back of a terrific away win. Anywhere where you go away from home and win 4-1 you’ve got to be happy. We know it’s going to be a difficult test at a great venue but it’s one we’re all looking forward to.” bcfc.com  #bcfc birminghamcityforum.co.uk
