Lee Clark has applauded Marlon King’s contribution to the Blues cause.

And Clark nailed the rumour that he was actively trying to swap him for Barry Ferguson at Blackpool.

King fired a hat-trick at Millwall and has carried on performing with such effective alacrity.

“I think he has done well with various different partners – Peter Lovenkrands, Leroy Lita and Nikola Zigic,” said the manager.

“I know he’s one of those players out there fighting all the time to get the result and try and do the business.”

It was suggested that when Ferguson was made available on loan by then Blackpool manager Ian Holloway, King was on the trading block. Not so.

Clark said: “It was put to me that Barry Ferguson could be available.

“I can’t sign a player straight out, it had to be a swap deal.

“Ian mentioned Marlon and I said it was a no-go.” bcfcfan.co.uk #bcfc
