Lee Clark expects to have both David Murphy and Curtis Davies available for selection against Leicester City on Saturday.

Murphy (pictured above) has been out of action since tearing his hamstring against Barnsley, whilst Davies limped off with a knee/ankle injury during the home defeat to Huddersfield.

“David Murphy has trained all week with the group so we’re very hopeful on him,” said Clark. “Curtis joined in today after having extensive treatment and we’ll see how he reacts today and tomorrow with regards to selection on Saturday.”

In Murphy’s absence Paul Robinson was brought in as cover at left-back and the former West Brom man has more than held his own, which leaves Clark with a selection dilemma in that position.

“We’ll have to see what we do because Paul has shown in his three games for us that he’s more than up for the fight,” added the Blues boss. “He’s the type of character I want. He’s very competitive, but he’s also an accomplished footballer and he’s done well. But as I said from day one, in my opinion David Murphy is the best left-back in the division, so there’s a situation to be had there.”

Elsewhere in the squad Ben Gordon and Akwasi Asante have become the latest players to be sidelined by injuries. The duo picked up knee and hamstring injuries respectively in the development squad game against Derby County on Tuesday. The extent of Gordon’s injury is still being assessed, whilst Asante faces six to eight weeks on the sidelines.

Elsewhere, Pablo Ibanez (broken foot), Paul Caddis (dislocated shoulder) and Stephen Carr (knee) remain absent. from
