Blues midfielder Foday Nabay has been called up to the England U16s squad for their forthcoming Victory Shield match against Wales.

Fourteen-year-old Nabay is rated as one of the club’s most promising youngsters and recently signed an extended two-year student registration and accepted the offer of a two-year scholarship after that.

Born in Sierra Leone, Nabay arrived at the club in August 2006 and quickly developed a reputation as a powerful, goal-scoring box-to-box player.

The Victory Shield fixture will be played at Port Talbot FC’s Victoria Road ground on Thursday 1 November, kick-off 7.35pm, and will be broadcast live on Sky Sports.

The Victory Shield is an annual football tournament competed for by the U16 teams of England, Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales. England have dominated the competition in recent times, having won it every year since 2001.
