Match Preview – Coventry City v Birmingham City   Leave a comment

Both teams come into this game with Transfer embargo’s hanging over them but  it could be a difficult one to predict with both needing the points for different reasons with Coventry in the Bottom 3 and looking to close on 21st placed Nottingham Forest whilst Birmingham City will be looking to consolidate a play off place .

Coventry City who currently sit in 22nd place have had their fair share of troubles on and the field this season but will see the game has an opportunity to find some sort of form and confidence going into the final quarter of the season against their Midland rivals.

Coventry boss Andy Thorn will be hoping to keep an unchanged side from the team that started in the midweek 1-1 draw against Crystal Palace at the Ricoh but is banking on a bumper crowd of over 20.000 bringing out the best from his players saying

Andy Thorn

“These are the sort of games you want to be in football for. With a big crowd expected as well, I am really looking forward to it”

Birmingham City will be looking to get back on the winning trail and keep up their promotion challenge after 2 loses and a draw in the last 3 games all at home so maybe a change of scenery and with over 5k visiting supporters to cheer them in the hope it will bring the best out of the team.

Chris Hughton will be able to bring back all the loan players that missed the midweek defeat against Chelsea in the FA Cup and the rested players with Keith Fahey and Steven Caldwell both facing late fitness test but expected to be fit for the short trip to the Ricoh Arena .

Chris Hughton

“We’ve fared fairly well away from home in recent weeks and in recent games.

“We’ll need to take that kind of form into this game because it will be a tough game and the bigger the support we can get into the stadium then the better for us”
